I wanted to start this blog to keep an up-to-date journal of articles, events and happenings surrounding the subject of surrogacy in India. There is a lot of rumours, gossip and misinformation out there, and I hope to bring some facts to the "debate" if you want to call it that. This blog is not meant to be any person's personal experience with surrogacy in India. There are plenty of other blogs that do that. Our blog is meant to cover any and all sides of doing surrogacy in India - both positive or negative. It is awareness and education that makes you best prepared to embark on this journey.
Surrogacy in India is a quite sensitive and new topic, and many are venturing into Indian surrogacy either because they can't afford to do it in their home countries (like the U.S., which is still 3-4 times more expensive) or they do not have a choice (it is not legal to do commercial surrogacy in their home countries).
Though I own and operate the Karma of Baby agency to help people arrange their surrogacy journeys to India, this blog is a good primer to start researching this option. I am grateful that we have this option in our day and age and that there is at least an additional choice besides adoption. This option also allows even the GLBT community to fulfill their dreams of starting a biological family of their own. As I say, you don't have to experience childbirth to experience the beauty of parenthood.
